Frequently Asked Questions

With whom can you work?

I work with individuals and couples, aged 16 or over.

Can we work online and/or in-person?

We can work in-person at my home office in Paisley, Scotland. Additionally, I work online with clients all over the UK (Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales). A mixed method approach is possible. Telephone work is also an option for individuals. Working by phone is not applicable for couples therapy.

How does online counselling work?

Online counselling works similarly to in-person counselling. Instead of travelling to a therapy office for sessions you’ll join an online meeting. We’ll be able to see, hear and connect with each other just as we would in-person.

Do I need special software to work online?

For online work, we’ll use Zoom: a secure, confidential and reliable video teleconferencing program. You can download Zoom for free on your PC and/or install the mobile app. For information, see the Zoom website.

How much do sessions cost?

Pricing information can be found on my individuals and couples pages. Discounted rates are available for those studying full-time and anyone who is unemployed or earning low-income.

When can we work?

My business hours are listed on my Contact page. I aim to respond within 24 hours of you making contact.

What happens in sessions?

My main therapeutic approach is Person-Centred, which is not about me giving you advice. Together we’ll create a safe and trustworthy relationship where you are welcome to bring anything with which you’re struggling. I’ll accept you as you are and offer my own experience and therapeutic expertise where appropriate. Additionally, I employ a Transactional Analysis framework when working with couples.

Are you registered and insured?

As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I am fully insured to work both in-person and online. I adhere to the BACP ethical framework and the Association for Counselling and Therapy Online (ACTO) guidelines for professional conduct.

How do I begin?

Use any contact link to email me. I’ll reply with introductory information and invite you to schedule a free and confidential consultation to determine if we’re suited to work together. If we’re a good fit, we can arrange our first session and begin your therapy.
